As the new Information Coordinator for St. George’s, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and explain what I will be doing to help with improved communication.

On the back of this sheet, you will find a list of planned activities from now until December, over and above the regularly scheduled services and meetings here at the church. You will also find a two month calendar with these events posted in the gallery. A volunteer sign-up sheet for those activities that require them is also posted beside the calendar.

On occasion, I and other parish group representatives may be making announcements about events or items of interest at the ends of services when needed.
Publicity of church events to the community will be one of my tasks as well.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need clarification or have questions about events. If I don’t know the answers, I’ll try to find out for you. Also, if you have information regarding your group that you would like to share with the congregation, let me know. Event organizers should continue to contact the church office with items which they would like included in the weekly Standard.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

From the Choir loft:
For those who may not have heard, St. George’s Choir has been invited to sing services at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, Salisbury Cathedral and Wells Cathedral in England next summer. In preparation for this, we will be singing Evensongs and holding fundraising events which we hope will be supported by members of the congregation.

“The Event” (November 4):
Thank you very much to all parishioners who signed up to donate “seed money” for this parish lunch. (We still need 2 more donors). Please give your tax-deductible $50 donation to Eleanor Ireland in the office or place it on the plate clearly marked as seed money no later than Thanksgiving Sunday, October 8.
